Notes:
I'm not certain where to note this, but Quatre has a surprising amount of endurance and fortitude for someone who's the son of a wealthy family and lacking in extensive training. He survived being lost in space for several days, with minimum oxygen and no access to food or water, and he was back in an MS only a short while after being recovered. He also trekked across the desert for at least several hours, again without food and water, and once more jumped into an MS after being reunited with the Maganac Corps. Later on, during the final battle, he was stabbed through the torso by Dorothy...and then proceeded to repeatedly stand back up, get under her skin through words alone, and then he was able to pilot Sandrock and help prevent a space fortress from plummeting to the Earth.
It might not be of much importance, but it is highly impressive for a kid who's main strength is his diplomatic skills and his kind heart.
Background:

Personality:
If Heero is the conflicted soldier of the group, Duo the hot headed one, Trowa the cool headed gunner, and Wufei the lost and wandering warrior, then Quatre is the 'face' and the quiet but solid rock of the group. He is kind hearted, intuitive, a fan of the arts, and an exceptionally skilled speaker in all settings. As the only son of the head of a large scale mining organization, these were skills that he couldn't help but pick up simply because of the environment that he was raised in. The pacifistic ideals of many colonists, including his father, were another thing that he grew up with and what he firmly believes in. Even though he willfully chose to be a gundam pilot, he still firmly holds onto these ideals. The fact that he allows civilians to evacuate and offers enemy soldiers mercy on the battlefield is a true example of this.
These pacifistic ideals and his kind hearted nature has lead to a curious capacity to understand the sorrows and trials of the people around him...and he can't help but empathize with them in his own way. This could be viewed as a weakness, but it is also a strength. He thinks his decisions over, and he is inherently honest about his feelings. These are part of the reasons why he is an effective diplomat and strategist when the situation calls for it, and why he is ultimately well loved by the people he meets. However, these skills are tempered by a lack of confidence in himself both as a fighter and even as a leader. When asked about his name and lineage, he notes that he's the 'disinhereted son' with a heavy note of self depreciation and more than a little irony, as if standing up for his decisions and beliefs had indeed made him a failure on some level. Furthermore, his lack of confidence compounds itself in Quatre's tendency to hold himself guilty over things that aren't even entirely his fault. It was once joked that he would blame himself for the lack of air in space, because he didn't try hard enough. Though it's a hyperbole, the point remains. However, it is his steadfast belief in his ideals that keeps him going regardless of the hardships he faces, and it is what helps him pull himself back together when crises hit.
Above all, it should be noted that Quatre is an inherently stable individual. Though he was raised in a sheltered environment, he takes to the difficulties of war with remarkable composure. He is intellectually and psychologically well rounded, fairly adaptable, and able to think outside of the box when the situation calls for it. It ultimately takes a lot to rattle him-- not to say that it is impossible. It would take the cumulative effect of several crises that hit close to home to make that happen.
Capabilities and Resources:
Quatre's strength, beyond his skills as a Gundam pilot, lie in his charisma and his intellect. He is able to inspire loyalty in the most unusual of places, and he's a skilled enough tactician that he is able to see what an enemy is planning in real time-- and is able to come up with a counter-strategy with equal swiftness. All of this lies simply in his ability to read and understand people. He can't help but sympathize with the plight of many, which even leads to his offers of mercy on the battlefield, but he can also see why people do fight, and he can figure out an enemy's intentions on an intuitive level.
His strength of character has inspired the loyalty of the Maganac Corps, a paramilitary unit consisting of forty men, all of whom are skilled combatants and MS pilots in their own right. After Quatre's daring, selfless move of saving their leader, Rashid, from a near-fatal gunshot years before the actual story began, the Maganacs have adopted him as one of their own. While Quatre repeatedly doesn't tell them of his intentions because of his desire to keep them out of harm, they come to his aid regardless of his reasons-- and they've even made their opinions known, not always so subtly, in the aftermath of these events.
This is actually a direct counterpoint to his own family, which is intimately tied to a major mining corporation in the colonies. His decision to become a Gundam pilot has estranged him from his father-- and has effectively cut him off from his family's monetary resources for the time being. Even if access is regained, these are not resources that he will use thoughtlessly...if this ever becomes valid as the storyline progresses.
Robot Name:
-XXXG-0SR Gundam Sandrock. -- Also known as 'Gundam Zero-Four'.
Robot Description:
The Gundam Sandrock is predominantly a melee unit that is specifically designed for combat in the desert. It has dust resistant joints and, out of the first five Gundams, it has the strongest physical armor and power output. Like all five of these Gundams, it is made with the expensive and difficult to produce Gundanium alloy. This metal is highly heat and corrosion resistant and, though it doesn't repel beam weapons, it can reduce the damage dealt to the machine itself. This strength and resistance is many times greater than titanium, and the alloy itself is electrically neutral, which makes it ideal for beam weapons and as armor. The alloy is also not detectable by standard forms of radar, which is a boon for a series of machines that are used for guerilla style assignments.
For the Sandrock specifically, the alloy is likely what helps to maintain the form, function, and effectiveness of its signature Heat Shotels, which are used either solo or in tandem with eachother to melt through enemy units. These Shotels can also be combined with Sandrock's shield and their carrier backpack to create the Cross Crusher, which is used to literally cut enemy units in half. Besides the obvious melee weapons and its Shield, which specifically has an anti-beam weapon coating, the Sandrock is also equipped with a set of Vulcans and Homing Missiles. The Vulcans specifically fire live ammunition as opposed to beams, though it neither has a large supply of ordinance nor much strength. In context, these can be used to shoot down incoming missiles. The Sandrock's own Homing Missiles require a specifically targeted opponent, and they largely have similar constraints as his Vulcans.
As a note, the Sandrock is primarily designed for ground combat. In zero-gravity conditions, like in space, it is much harder to control and requires very specific modifications to make it space worthy. Otherwise, the basic weaponry and tactics used are still the same. Fortunately, Quatre is creative enough to use this to his advantage in combat.
